Country Artists Who Changed Their Names

We have recently seen artists like Lady A and The Chicks make changes to their names. With these new and improved names, we decided to take a look back at other country artists who have changed their's for the better.

  1. Carly Pearce, originally Carly Cristyne Slusser kept her first name and paired it with the surname of her grandfather.
  2. Eric Church, like a lot of artists, Church decided to go by his middle name instead. His legal first name is Kenneth.
  3. Garth Brooks is another artist who introduced himself to fans with his middle name Garth, his first name is actually Troyal. And we won’t get in to the rebranding of Chris Gaines…
  4. LoCash was once known as LoCash Cowboys but decided to drop the second half of their name when they signed to a new label.
  5. The Cadillac Three were once known as The Cadillac Black.
  6. Randy Travis had more than one stage name. He was first known as Randy Ray and his legal name is Randy Traywick.
  7. Jason Aldean is actually Jason Aldine Williams. He decided not to go with his legal name because at the start of his career there was a famous basketball player with the same name. So, he switched around the spelling of his middle name and the rest is history.
  8. Luke Bryan didn’t change his name as much as others may have, but his real name is Thomas Luther Bryan.
  9. Faith Hill is actually Audrey Faith Perry. The name Hill came from her first marriage to Daniel Hill and decided to keep the name because fans were more familiar with it.
  10. Tim McGraw’s real name is actually Samuel Timothy Smith. He took on the last name of his father Tug McGraw and shortened his middle name to create the Tim we all know and love.
